I’m not exactly a dooms day theorist, but with the current state of the economy, and credit in this country, the idea is starting to catch on. Truth be told, I don’t have a lot of money in the bank - or anywhere at the moment - so I’m not as worried as say someone with millions in the market. However, I am more worried about this whole credit crunch than I am about the Dow dropping 700+ points.
Without credit, the world will practically come to a stand still. No more car loans, home loans, lines of credit… no credit period. While I’m not looking for a loan at them moment, I know in several years a car and a home may be the big ticket items we are looking to invest in. But if there the credit isn’t there, there won’t be a home or a car to drool over.
I do believe things will continue to get worse before they get better - the market will turn around - but when this all happens I’ll leave to the economists.
I posted this video a week ago when the DOW dropped 700+ points…
Many of the primaries of now come and gone. After going through a crazy battle for the nomination, it looks like Obama is going to take it! Finally!! There were many ups and downs for both campaigns, but Obama was able to stay strong and pull it off.
I followed the election and the results closely through February, March and some of April, but I was getting tired of hearing the same thing from the reporters and news commentators. The fight for the nomination, just went on too long. Yeah, Clinton pulled off some upsets down the stretch, but really, she’s been down and out for a good couple months now.
It’s time to move on… or move forward with the election. The conventions are coming up soon, and the Dems need to have a clear vision and objective before that. McCain has been out schmoozing for months now, while Clinton and Obama duked it out.
The bigger question now: Does Obama take Clinton as his running mate? All signs (and our studio pool) say yes. However, while I think he will do this, I would much rather see him take Edwards or Governor Kathleen Sebelius (of Kansas) as his running mate. Edwards brings a dedicated following from the Green movement and would fit well into a VP roll. Sebelius, a democrat in a very red state, would help further unite the Midwestern region and may even help Obama pull in some serious votes from traditionally red Midwest states.
In the coming days, we’ll have our answer.
For now,

While my perdication in November is true for the moment, Obama and Clinton will probably never run on the same ticket. And in the past three months, I’ve come to like Obama more the Clinton. With Super (let down) Tuesday behind us, and no clear front runner for the dems, it looks like this will be an all out blood bath till the finish line.
With the democratic convention not until late August, I hope that things will resolve themselves way before that date. With John McCain knocking on the door for the GOP nomination, the dems have got to get things together and start to wage a campaign against him. I heard of a news program a couple weeks back that the democrats have a way of ripping defeat from the hands of victory. Which we certainly don’t want to be the case this year. McCain is way too much like Bush for us to put him the White House.
We’ll see what comes to be in the coming weeks and the coming primaries. I’ll be posting as needed - so stay tunes, but not too close… could be a week or two :-)
Well, some how we went through the entire month of January without any snow. That’s right - New York City had no snow what so ever in the month of January. I don’t understand how that is possible. Not only was there no snow, but it wasn’t even that cold! Hey, but don’t get me wrong - I’m not complaining. Really! This been in the mid 50’s multiple days… nice!
Who know what February has in store… but lets home the weather doesn’t try to play catch up for all the weather we haven’t had….
Holy cow. You have to see this movie. Tim Burton as usual has directed a movie that far surpasses anything at there at the moment. The depth of the story, the entire production design, and the music formed a complete whole that can be appreciated even from the second row.
In Burton’s style, the movie is dark, haunting, and completely overwhelming at times. Unlike his earlier work in “Big Fish,” the film is very dark, gloomy, and “dirty” in only a way that London couple be a hundred years ago (or so). I completely enjoyed the overall look of the film from a post-production and color stand point. The post-production crew did a excellent job completing the film and polishing it into what we see in the theater.
The performances by Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter were miraculous. They both fit this work well as their looks and acting styles match with Burtons’ ideas. Coming into the theater I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Johnny Depp signing, but once the movie started the thought didn’t cross my mind.
Overall, this is a must see. I will be seeing it again, and buying the DVD. A solid work of art.

Well, it is officially November. That can only me one… ok a couple of things. My birthday, Thanksgiving, and my favorite… One year until the Presidential Elections! WAAHOO. For the past Lord knows how many months the Democrats and Republicans have been squaring off in debates ranging from a YouTube debate to the usual “town hall” event. Caring about the debates, and the candidates up until now would have been a waste of my time. I’ve told myself since all the candidates started coming out of the wood work, that I would not start caring until one year before the election. And with October past, and November in the present, I’m ready to get my game face on and start talking politics.
Despite my completely apathetic attitude toward “Decision 2008″ back around May I predicited a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton Democratic ticket. Why? Clinton has the connections and backbone to say what she means while Obama is a pretty face people can get behind!
Aside from the practically useless information provided by the news stations, the Daily Show and Colbert Report have been my only real sources for keeping up with “campaigns”. I promise to diversify my readings, listenings and viewings - I know many of the candidates just by name and face, but know nothing about what they are running for. So, stay tune, I will also promise you some good non-partisan comments and posting in the coming year. Happy reading.
We all marked today as the sixth year since Sept. 11. We all remember the day well, and will continue to for many years to come. While many of these thoughts, and memories, and images will remain, it’s the day and the events of today, Sept. 11, 2007 that will start to return to normal. (more…)
