I had the craziest interview with HHC Marketing (Broadway marketing and promotions firm) yesterday.

One of the questions the interviewer asked me was “Ok, so there is a hypothetical irish play, not musical who needs marketing. Where would you market it and how would you market it?”

I completely drew a blank. The only places I could think of that had anything to do with Irish was Irish Pubs and Catholic Churches. I told him I would get bartenders to create buzz with customers about the play and have fliers placed on tables, sides of glasses, and to name a drink after the play.

The other random question he asked me was “Pick two posters from around the room” (there were Broadway posters hung up in frames on the walls). I chose Phantom and Les Mis (big surprise, right?). He then said “Pick an alcohol that would sponsor each musical.” At this point, I was shaking in my stilletos! I finally said champagne for Phantom, since it is a love story and a French wine for Les Mis since it is in France.

Needless to say, I have no idea how I did in my interview, because it was not like any I have ever had before. Cross your fingers they call me back!
